The port system attends a great variety of exporting and importing products shipped to and from Europe , Asia , Africa and other countries form the American continent: containers, petroleum, chemicals and petrochemicals, cement, steel, automobiles, agricultural and mineral grains, salt, sulfur, etc.
It seems an easy task, but it's not. IPAs have many functions, for instance: they make sure there exists an offer of sufficient, opportune and high quality services, as well as internationally competitive prices; they also support and encourage contribution of both exporters and importers in international currents of commerce and also link more effectively the markets of production and consumption by developing different transport services. Likewise, they build more infrastructure under the criteria of social and economical profitability. They also promote the arrival of operators with advanced technology and generate an increase and diversification of both commercial and touristic activities of ports.
In order to reach the objectives mentioned above, the department of communications and transport granted on July 26 th 1994 and also published in the Federation's Official Journal on November 23 rd 1994, the concession title in favor of Integral Port Administration of Topolobampo, S.A de C.V. for an integral administration of the port and its jurisdiction, therefore it will be able to operate terminals and facilities and harbor services offered.
