Connectivity
The port of Topolobampo has land connections toward north with the American border ( Nogales , Mexicali ) and going south, with other main cities from Sinaloa and the rest of the country.

Having a privileged location allows products handling from and to west countries. Both southern and central regions of the United states are their origin and destination, which are served by two railroads.

The port has a train station which belongs to Ferrocarriles Mexicanos (former Chihuahua-Pacifico route), and a 23 km long connection along with the pacific route.

When it comes to highway connections, Topolobampo has such great access into a net of communications which link the port to all the country through a four lane highway that goes from the border in the state of Sonora until Mazatlan , Sinaloa, and very soon will reach the states of Nayarit and Jalisco.

Another important connection is the International Airport of Los Mochis, 12 km away from the port. It connects topolobampo with the rest of the country the southern states in USA .

Therefore, cargo handling at the port is served totally by the use of auto transport, mainly due to users' preference on this kind of transportation, as well as the easy way in accessing existing highway connections with the rest of Sinaloa , Sonora and Nayarit.

According to what was mentioned above, we can say existing routes of transport in the region are auto transport and railroad. For that reason, vegetable shipments sent to the United States use the first route of transportation, whereas railroad transportation allows distribution of great scales of grains and fertilizers at national level.
